Notice to Businesses in Our Data

This notice is for business owners and staff whose details appear in Live Lead Extractor — not for our customers. If you are a customer, see our Privacy Policy.

If you would like your business taken out, you can do that yourself here: Remove my business. It takes effect immediately and permanently.

1. Why you are reading this

We collect business contact information without contacting each business first, so most people in our data have not heard from us. Data protection law in the UK and EU (in particular Article 14 of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR) says that when information is gathered this way, the people concerned must still be told what was collected, where it came from, and what they can do about it. That is what this page is for.

2. Who is responsible

3. What we collect

Only business-facing information, and only what a business publishes about itself:

business name, category, address, service area, and map coordinates
business phone number and website address
publicly listed email addresses found on the business's own website
links to the business's public social media profiles
the star rating and review count shown on its public listing
where the business publishes it, the name and job title of an owner or manager

We do not collect special categories of data — no health, biometric, political, religious or similar information — and we do not collect information about private individuals in a personal capacity.

4. Where it comes from

Two public sources, and no others:

Public business listings (such as Google Maps results) — the same entries anyone sees when searching for a local business.
The business's own public website — the pages a business publishes for the public to read, such as its contact, about and team pages, plus the public social profiles it links to.

We do not buy contact lists, and we do not take information from private or password-protected pages.

5. Why we process it, and our lawful basis

We compile business contact details so our customers can contact those businesses about products and services relevant to them. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — our interest in operating a business-information service, and our customers' interest in reaching potential suppliers and partners.

We have weighed that against your interests. In short: the information is limited to the business sphere and was published by the business to be contacted; the volume per business is small; we hold no sensitive data; and anyone can opt out instantly and permanently at any time, with no reason required. We keep a written record of that assessment and will provide a summary on request.

Where local law requires consent rather than legitimate interests for a particular use — for example marketing email in several EU countries — obtaining that consent is the responsibility of the customer who chooses to make contact, and our Acceptable Use Policy requires them to follow the law that applies to them.

6. Who else sees it

Customers who run a search covering your area receive the information described above. We also use the service providers listed on our Subprocessors page to operate the platform. We do not sell information for advertising, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

7. How long we keep it

Search results are held in the customer account that generated them for as long as that account remains active. If you ask to be removed, we delete what we hold about your business and add its details to a permanent do-not-collect list so it is not gathered again — see section 9.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to it being used at all. Objecting to direct-marketing use is an absolute right — we do not weigh it against anything, we simply act on it.

Use the removal form, or email privacy@liveleadextractor.com. We respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

9. Removal is permanent

This is the part most services get wrong, so we want to be explicit.

Deleting a record on its own does not work: the next time a customer searches that town, the business would simply be collected again. So when you ask to be removed, we do two things:

Delete the information we already hold about the business, and
Add its details to a permanent do-not-collect list that every future search is checked against, before anything is saved or delivered.

The result is that the business does not come back. You do not need an account, you do not need to explain why, and there is no charge.

We keep the minimum needed to make the block work — such as the website address, phone number or email you gave us — precisely because that is what lets us keep the business out. We cannot honour "delete everything including the block itself", because that would allow the record to reappear.

10. Where we operate

We operate from the United States, and we collect business information in the United States, Canada, and other non-European markets.

We do not currently collect business information in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. Searches for those locations are refused by the product itself, at no charge to the customer. We took that position deliberately rather than collect data there without the representation and notification arrangements those rules require.

This notice still applies to you if your business was collected before that exclusion took effect, or if you believe we hold information about you for any other reason. The removal route in section 9 is open to anyone, anywhere, with no account and no reason required.

11. Changes

If we change how we collect or use business information, we will update this page and its "last updated" date.
